Remote Opportunity : CIVICUS is hiring a Programme Assistant – Local Leadership Labs Project Close Out
CIVICUS is a global alliance of civil society organisations and activists dedicated to strengthening citizen action and civil society throughout the world.
We are looking for an organised, detail-oriented professional with a passion for civil society and international development to support the successful close out of our Local Leadership Labs (LLL) initiative — a meaningful opportunity to contribute to knowledge retention and institutional learning at a global organisation.
Working under the Advisor: Strategic Initiatives and in close collaboration with the Project Coordinator – LLL, you will play a key role in ensuring that the LLL project is closed out thoroughly, responsibly, and in line with organisational and funder requirements.
What are the Local Leadership Labs?
Funded by the Hilton Foundation, the Local Leadership Labs (LLL) is an initiative aimed at tackling some of the barriers (political, technical, behavioural) preventing governments, donors and other stakeholders from adopting and delivering on commitments that recognise, enable and resource diverse local civil society groups as key development actors in their own right. The initiative supported radically inclusive spaces where local civil society groups can drive, alongside other key actors and decision-makers, the development of context-appropriate policies and solutions. The grant is concluding in June 2026.
Key responsibilities include:
- Project close out support including virtual meeting support, supporting consultant contract management and delivery, organising and maintaining project documentation, resources, and reports in accordance with funder contract requirements, contributing to drafting reports and consolidating insights from programmatic activities.
- Administrative support to ensure all project close out documentation requirements are met and filing is complete for a full project record, supporting partners with final reporting, and related filing, working with finance and operations to process final partner or consultant payments.
- Communications support to see the dissemination of relevant content within the CIVICUS Secretariat and externally.
- Other duties within the scope of the role, demonstrating CIVICUS values in all professional interactions.
Who we’re looking for
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented and collaborative professional with a relevant degree (or equivalent experience) and at least one year of project support experience spanning administration, logistics, finance, or grants management. They are fluent in English and confident using digital tools including MS Office, SharePoint, Google Docs, and Miro.
They bring a working knowledge of civil society, human rights, or civic space issues, and are equally at home navigating a multicultural, remote team environment across multiple time zones. Strong communication and knowledge management skills are a must.
Preference will be given to candidates with hands-on experience working alongside civil society organisations or grassroots groups in the Global South, and those who have previously supported a project close out process.
Why Join CIVICUS?
- Be part of a globally respected civil society alliance making a real difference.
- Fully remote and flexible working environment.
- Collaborate with a diverse, multicultural, and mission-driven international team.
- Contribute to meaningful institutional learning and knowledge preservation.
