The Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development (APWLD) is inviting women in all their diversities, including those from minority and marginalized communities across Asia and the Pacific, to apply for the position of Event Coordinator for the upcoming Asia Pacific Feminist Forum 2027 (APFF).
This exciting opportunity allows experienced professionals working in feminist movements, human rights, and civil society to contribute to one of the region’s most significant gatherings for women’s rights and social justice advocates.
The selected candidate will play a central role in organizing the Asia Pacific Feminist Forum 2027, working closely with APWLD’s Secretariat and its network of activists and partners to strengthen feminist movements, promote women’s human rights, and advance the agenda of Development Justice.
About the Asia Pacific Feminist Forum (APFF)
The Asia Pacific Feminist Forum (APFF) is a major regional event that brings together activists, women human rights defenders, academics, lawyers, and feminist allies from across Asia and the Pacific.
The forum serves as a vibrant space where participants can:
- Celebrate collective achievements of feminist movements
- Reflect on emerging political and social challenges
- Deepen feminist knowledge and analysis
- Strengthen solidarity across movements
- Develop strategies to advance women’s rights and Development Justice
The 2027 forum will gather feminist leaders and advocates in Chiang Mai, Thailand, where participants will collaborate to challenge structural inequalities and build stronger feminist movements in the region.
Position Overview
The Event Coordinator will lead the overall planning and implementation of the Asia Pacific Feminist Forum 2027.
This is a 20-month consultancy contract, expected to begin in April 2026. The consultant will work remotely from her home country but will travel frequently to Chiang Mai, Thailand, especially closer to the event.
The role requires strong coordination, project management, and leadership skills to successfully deliver a large-scale regional forum involving diverse stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
The selected consultant will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the forum, including:
- Leading the development and implementation of the APFF strategy and work plan
- Managing the overall planning and organisation of the forum
- Preparing the event concept note, programme, timeline, and budget
- Coordinating the selection of speakers, participants, and workshops
- Collaborating with communications teams to develop media and outreach strategies
- Supporting the development of publications and learning resources related to the event
- Supervising interns, volunteers, and staff involved in the event preparations
- Coordinating logistical arrangements such as venue, travel, interpretation, and accessibility services
- Supporting monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities related to the event
- Producing final reports summarizing proceedings, outcomes, and recommendations
Selection Criteria
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Proven experience in event coordination within feminist, human rights, or civil society organizations
- Strong project management skills, including budgeting, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- A degree in fields such as social sciences, law, human rights, development studies, women’s studies, or communications
- Demonstrated commitment to women’s human rights in Asia and the Pacific
- Deep understanding of the political, economic, and socio-cultural context of the region
- Experience working with membership-based organizations and grassroots movements
- Excellent organizational, administrative, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in ICT tools, social media platforms, and Google Suite
- Strong teamwork and coordination skills
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Ability to travel internationally when required
Compensation and Benefits
The consultancy offers a monthly fee of USD $2,000 for the duration of the 20-month contract.
The consultant will work remotely from her home country but should be prepared for frequent travel to Chiang Mai, Thailand, particularly as the event approaches.
