About the Internship opportunity

IFAD’s internship programmes span six months, immersing you in the heart of global development. Whether you’re based at their headquarters or in one of their country, multi-country, or regional offices, you’ll be part of a dynamic and diverse team tackling some of the world’s most pressing challenges.

Eligibility criteria

To qualify for these impactful programmes, candidates must meet specific criteria:

• Educational Enrollment: You must either be currently enrolled in an accredited university or graduate school and have attended courses within the last 12 months, OR have recently completed your academic studies at either the undergraduate or postgraduate level.
• Academic Progress: For current students, you need to have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies before the internship begins.
• Age Requirement: You must be 30 years of age or younger at the time of application.
• Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is essential. Proficiency in other official IFAD languages (French, Spanish, or Arabic) is a strong asset. For country office positions, fluency in the local language may also be required.

A special note about the Enhanced Internship Programme (EIP): this track specifically aims to increase geographic diversity within IFAD. If you meet the general eligibility criteria but are not based in Rome, the EIP offers a more comprehensive support package to ensure equitable access to these incredible opportunities.

• Visit the DRC career portal: The best way to find current openings is to visit  drc.ngo/about-us/work-with-us/. This page lists all their open jobs, and you can filter them by category, location, and contract type.
• Online application process: The DRC only accepts applications submitted through their online system. You’ll need to create an account and upload a cover letter and an updated CV (usually no longer than four pages). They do not accept applications sent via email.
• Standby Rosters: DRC also maintains standby rosters for different types of expertise, such as Humanitarian Response. These rosters are for individuals who are ready to be deployed with short notice. Recruitment for these rosters is done periodically.
