Take-Two Expects Over $1 Billion in Cash Flow Ahead of GTA 6 Launch
Take-Two Interactive has outlined its financial expectations ahead of the highly anticipated launch of Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6), with CEO Strauss Zelnick telling investors the company expects to generate more than $1 billion in operating cash flow during fiscal 2027.
In a recent letter to shareholders, Zelnick said the forecast is supported by both GTA 6 and the company’s broader portfolio, including the continued performance of GTA Online. However, with no other major Take-Two releases scheduled for 2026, analysts expect GTA 6 to be the primary driver of that growth.
Beyond launch revenue, Zelnick emphasized that the projected cash flow is part of a longer-term strategy to strengthen Take-Two’s financial position. The company plans to maintain a flexible balance sheet that will allow it to invest in new technologies, expand its existing franchises, and pursue future mergers and acquisitions, similar to its acquisition of Zynga in 2022.
While industry expectations for GTA 6 remain exceptionally high, the game’s ultimate commercial performance is still uncertain. Some analysts believe it could set new launch records, while others expect its success to build over time rather than in a single week. Recent estimates have suggested GTA 6 pre-orders could generate around $260 million, though Take-Two has not officially confirmed those figures.
With GTA 6 set to be one of the industry’s biggest releases, investors will be watching closely to see whether it can replicate the long-term success achieved by Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online over the past decade.
