Maine is home to a few professional sports teams, primarily in minor leagues:
- Maine Celtics (Basketball) – NBA G League, affiliate of the Boston Celtics. Plays at the Portland Expo Center.
- Portland Sea Dogs (Baseball) – Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, playing in the Eastern League. Their home games are at Hadlock Field in Portland.
- Maine Mariners (Ice Hockey) – ECHL, affiliate of the Boston Bruins. They play at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland.
- Portland Hearts of Pine (Soccer) – USL League One, debuting in 2025. They will play at Fitzpatrick Stadium.
- Maine Nordiques (Ice Hockey) – North American Hockey League (NAHL), playing in Lewiston.
