Rhode Island is home to two professional sports teams:
- Providence Bruins (Ice Hockey) – American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the NHL’s Boston Bruins.
- Rhode Island FC (Soccer) – USL Championship (second tier of American soccer).
While Rhode Island also has a rich history of sports and many notable college athletic programs (like the University of Rhode Island, Providence College, and Brown University), the two teams listed above are its current professional teams as of May 2025.
